Many believe in the ‘domino effect’ as a natural force in life and subsequently, sport. It’s often referred to as the concept of ‘momentum’. The domino effect is best explained as looking at life, or sport, as a series of somehow connected events or situations. When one domino is pushed, the others all fall until the inevitable end result occurs and a thousand dominos are all lying flat.
New York is the headquarters for all four major sports leagues and home to celebrated NFL teams the Giants and Jets, historic baseball teams the Yankees and the Mets, basketball’s Knicks, Nets and Liberty, soccer’s Red Bulls, the U.S. Open and the New York Marathon. In short, it’s a sports lovers paradise.

Our ‘Big Reason Why’ is a topic we talk about in our Athlete Tough program and I was looking at it today with a team, because it’s soon to be Fall in America and they’re faced with the proposition of going home and either looking at this period of time as a vacation or a break.
Welcome to another edition of 5 minutes with Bo Hanson, today I thought it might be useful, given that we’re coming towards the end of the year, to take a moment and reflect on some of the experiences we’ve had throughout season 2017.
What’s On and Where We’re Going to Be
There’s a lot going on during December and we hope to see you at some of these events too:
The Alliance of Women Coaches Academies: Denver Colorado, November 29th to December 2nd 2017. The 43rd NCAA Women Coaches Academy and first Academy 2.0 run concurrently and have an exceptional line up of speakers, including Athlete Assessments’ Liz Masen.
Sport Management Association of Australia and New Zealand Conference: Gold Coast Queensland (hosted by Griffith University), November 29th to December 1st 2017. Laren Dyer from Athlete Assessments will be heading up our exhibit at the SMAANZ Conference.
National Fastpitch Coaches Association Convention: Las Vegas Nevada (Bally Hotel & Casino), December 6th to 9th 2017. Make sure you visit the Athlete Assessments exhibit in the NFCA Marketplace.
Women’s Golf Coaches Association Convention: Las Vegas Nevada (Planet Hollywood), December 10th to 13th 2017. The WGCA Convention host an exhibitors evening on Monday December 11th and we welcome you to catch up with Bo Hanson and Liz Masen at the Athlete Assessments booth that evening.
Golf Coaches Association of America Convention: Las Vegas Nevada (Planet Hollywood), December 10th to 13th 2017. At the same time as the WGCA Convention, the GCAA host their convention which includes their own exhibitors evening on Tuesday December 12th. If you’ll be in town, ensure to visit with Bo Hanson and Liz Masen at the Athlete Assessments booth that evening too.
American Volleyball Coaches Association Convention: Kanas City Missouri, December 13th to 17th 2017. Bo Hanson is presenting a key note presentation on developing team culture as well as co-presenting a workshop on a real-life case study of turning around a team. You’ll also find Liz Masen at the Athlete Assessments booth during the convention too.
