Why NCAA Programs choose
Athlete Assessments DISC PROFILES

From student-athlete leadership development, team culture and dynamics, to coach and staff professional development, NCAA programs need tools that perform where it matters most; on the field, in the locker room, and within their high-performance teams.

While traditional DISC Profiles provide general insights, they fall short in sport-specific application. Athlete Assessments was created to close this gap.

Athlete Assessments is the leading provider in sport-specific DISC Profiling and application. Our sport-specific DISC Profiles are tailored to the unique context and identity of athletes, coaches, and sport administrators, helping NCAA programs enhance leadership, communication, and team performance.

The #1 thing about leadership is that each person leads in their own unique way. We work with each of our student-athletes to develop their self-awareness and emotional intelligence early in our program… Athlete Assessments’ DISC Profiles are a foundation for the growth mindset, a base for student-athletes to explore their unique strengths and styles, build on their unique leadership style, and begin engaging in the team development conversation.

Why is disc specifically for sport important?

because context matters

DISC is a powerful tool, but only when it speaks the language of those using it.

Most generic DISC assessments were originally developed for corporate environments, focusing on behavior in meetings, office communication, and business settings. While valuable, they miss the mark when applied to the competitive, high-pressure, and team-orientated world of sport.

Athlete Assessments’ DISC Profiles are purpose-built for sport, using language, examples, and feedback that reflect the real-world environments of athletes, coaches, and sports administrators. Each version is tailored to the unique demands of the role, whether it’s performing under pressure, leading a team, or managing behind-the-scenes operations, all while remaining grounded in a consistent behavioral framework.

This unified approach enables a shared language across your entire department or program, strengthening communication, alignment, and the effectiveness of development initiatives at every level.

How it makes a Difference
Context is Everything

In sport, performance happens under pressure, in public, and in real time. Athletes and coaches don’t have the luxury of long meetings or reflection time, they need insights that apply to split-second decisions, emotional regulation, and team dynamics in high-stakes situations.

Language That Resonates

Those who play, coach, and work in sport, won’t respond to a DISC Profile that talks about ‘customer service’ or ‘quarterly reviews’. Our sport-specific DISC Profiles hit home, with focus on the real sport experience. How you handle pressure on game day, how you respond to coaching styles, how you contribute to team dynamics, and more.

Role-Specific Insight

A coach leads differently than an athlete performs. A sports administrator supports differently than a coach instructs. That’s why we offer unique DISC Profiles for Athletes, Coaches, and Sports Administrators & Staff.

Better Buy-In = Better Outcomes

When people feel a tool ‘gets them’, they engage more. That means greater uptake and ownership of the process; more meaningful reflection; deeper conversations within teams; and lasting impact on performance and leadership.

DISC has given our team a much better understanding of themselves and others and created a common language to discuss our similarities and differences. It has totally enhanced our communication both on and off the field… We get a lot of feedback on DISC…who doesn’t like learning about themselves? [The athletes] also love being able to identify their coaches, teammates, etc. They also enjoy hearing about our team’s culture and how we reframe things like competition (both internally and externally) and how we focus on the person’s character and how that has a positive impact on our results.

Whether it’s building self-awareness, strengthening leadership, or enhancing communication, our tailored tools ensure that every athlete, coach, and member of staff gets the insights they need to perform at their best.

Each assessment explores behavioral styles in the context of the specific role, whether it’s how an athlete communicates on the field, how a coach adapts leadership to different personalities, or how administrators collaborate behind the scenes.

AthleteDISC Profile

DISC For Student athletes

Self-awareness, confidence, communication, leadership – critical for individual and team performance.

As part of our program’s initial leadership development processes, our athletes explore their unique strengths and styles through the Athlete Assessments AthleteDISC Profile Reports. By examining what each individual needs for success, what motivates them, and how they are likely to behave under stress, our players were eventually able to understand each other’s needs and want what’s best for the team.

Coach with more clarity and impact. Learn how to adapt your style to get the best out of every athlete.

We completely attribute the staff dynamic success to working with Bo and Liz at Athlete Assessments. We had known each other first as players and Coach, then as Coach and Coach, which helped us really truly understand ourselves as person to person. Through this understanding and the guidance of Bo Hanson, we have been able to better connect with our athletes and have more effective communication to get the very best out of each athlete that is possible. The drama is minimized, the culture is clean, and our athletes know exactly what is expected of them. It has been the best investment we could ever make in our team.

DISC For STAFF

Lead better from behind the scenes. Support collaboration, culture, and strategic leadership.

When I’m talking to coaches or administrators, I think about how to present data that interests them. DISC gives me the insight to create the perfect package for the person sitting across from me.
