Lecture rooms lie empty, hallways are still, and the usual chatter of students is replaced by the subtle sounds that are more often drowned out by the hustle and bustle of campus life. And so is the start of the semester across most university campuses.

While online education options have been on the increase over the last decade or so, the global pandemic has pushed in-person classes online or at a minimum to a hybrid format. But, what is unchanged is the dedication of educators to provide the best possible student experience, now and into the future.

We’ve written this to share best practice and give you solid ideas to help deliver a valuable student experience in an online environment. (Even if you’ve run online classes for years, our aim is to provide you with some extra gems for ongoing improvement.)

For this article we asked many of our academic clients to share what they’ve found most useful when developing and delivering courses online. We are grateful and excited to share their personal insights into the 3 most important things to get right when moving your class online, together with ‘Icebreakers that Work Online’ and ‘36 Tips and Tricks’.
