Get jazzed about the 2016 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Convention from December 7 – 10 in New Orleans where Athlete Assessments’ Bo Hanson will be presenting alongside The University of Notre Dame Softball Coaching Staff including Head Coach Deanna Gumpf, sharing their unique secrets to success.nfca15

The University of Notre Dame Softball Coaching Staff are diverse and they are unique. Not only have they played together, they now coach alongside each other begging the question, what more could you learn from someone you have known so well for so long? But they have. Using CoachDISC Behavioral Profiling and committing to sessions dedicated to understanding each Coach’s unique contribution, the staff have learnt how to use their strengths to truly complement each other’s coaching style and where to adapt their behaviors to build trust and add value to the team. It is this experience that will form the basis for the first presentation Inner Workings of a Successful Coaching Staff.

Your presenters, Head Coach Deanna Gumpf, Associate Coach Kris Ganeff, Lizzy Ristano, Jamie Spitale, Kasey O’Connor, will be sharing how they learnt to appreciate the importance of “philosophically being aligned” yet “behaviorally different”, how they used the DISC framework to understand and value your fellow Coaches and share the process they used to develop effective working strategies to build relationships with those different to yourself.

In a second presentation, Developing your Athletes to be ‘ATHLETE TOUGH™’: How to easily incorporate resiliency skill development into your Softball program and get results, Bo Hanson, 4x Olympian and Coaching Consultant will explain, physical traits aside, what the best athletes have in common.

According to Bo, the answer is mental toughness. But, mental toughness is not a mythical quality possessed by only a few. It is a teachable skill and there are proven strategies to develop your softball players to be ‘ATHLETE TOUGH™’. Being ‘ATHLETE TOUGH™’ is defined by the actions you take when your performance matters the most. In the heat of battle or when all seems lost, those who stay in the game are those who never lose sight of why they are in the game in the first place.

This presentation covers the most effective strategies to develop mental toughness within your softball team, athlete by athlete. They are proven ways that the best performers rely on and use daily. You can easily incorporate these within your softball program to develop your team to be ‘ATHLETE TOUGH™’.
