Gain a deeper understanding of your sports personality

The importance of sports psychology in today's sporting areas is evident in the amount of information available to coaches and athletes alike. Understanding your limitations and strengths can help you to improve your overall performance.

What is Sports Psychology?

Sports Psychology is a fairly new area of study and there is much to be learned from this type of investigation into the sports psyche. Many athletes put mental barriers on themselves thus jeopoardising all the hard work they put into their training and nutrition.

A great example of sports psychology barrier is the four minute mile. Many runners thought it physically impossible to run a mile in under four minutes as the best runners in the world were achieving times of 4:03 and 4:01. The common perception was that it wasn't possible to do.

In 1954 Roger Bannister was the first man to run a mile in under four minutes (he ran the mile in 3 min 59.4 sec) and remarkably his effort was bested just 46 days later by Australian John Landy running the mile in 3 min 57.9 sec.

This shows that once sports psychological barriers are broken it paves the way for others to follow.

Sport and exercise psychology seeks to garner better results

Our approach to looking at an individual's strengths and weaknesses is similar to that of many sports psychology techniques in that we strive to help coaches and athletes understand themselves and their attitudes towards their chosen sports.

Our Sports DISC profiling system has been developed specifically for athletes and for for coaches.  (There is also a profiling tool specifically for sports administrators, managers and other professionals working in the sports industry.)

Sports DISC profiling does not replace or replicate good sports psychology. It is however an extremely valuable tool for using alongside, in addition or as part of a sports psychology program.  Our sports DISC profiling systems are extremely easy to use, affordable and completely online.
